In the midst of an oasis in Calama lies this hotel, with over 25 years of history, now undergoing a renovation focused on the reception-breakfast area and terrace. As interior designers and lighting specialists, our goal was to transport guests to a place unlike anything seen before in the region.
We achieved this by using color inspired by the reuse of brick veneer, incorporating shades from the 1970s color palette to evoke nostalgia among guests. Shiny mosaics and ceramics contrast with the matte texture of the brick clay.
The spaces were connected through a long shelf that runs across them all. Succulents take center stage, representing the oasis indoors. Always prioritizing reuse and recycling, artist Maite Izquierdo crafted textured, colorful curtains from recycled and cut fabrics, wrapping around the shelf.
A wine rack with an impressive collection serves as a divider for the bar area, which remains unchanged from its original design, preserving the hotel’s heritage. Materials like micro cement enhance textures that are further elevated by precise and optimal lighting.
